Course summary

From 2020, you will require a degree to join the Police. This course offers those interested in pursuing a career as a Police Officer, or as an Officer with the wider Public Services sector, the opportunity to study a diverse course that will start you on your journey towards meeting the Police entry requirement. The course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and understanding that underpins policing, in addition to preparing for further study, training or employment. Students will develop as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the policing sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The course is taught by well qualified and experienced lectures who are dedicated to ensuring student success through effective curriculum delivery and high-quality pastoral support. The team includes staff with relevant sector expertise. For those who don't want to study the full HND, there is also the option to undertake a Higher National Certificate (HNC) - this is a one year programme of study, equivalent to the first year of the HND. Upon completion of the HNC you can leave with this standalone qualification, or apply to 'top-up' your course to a HND with a further year of study. **After the Course**Upon successful completion of the HND, students will be eligible to apply to complete a top-up degree at Level 6. Completing a Level 6 top-up would open up the undergraduate degree holder route into the police force.
