Our BA Political Economics focuses on political and commercial decision-making in an interconnected world. The course prepares students to work in international and national governmental and non-governmental agencies; obtain strategic roles in private companies and in politics; and to develop policy and decision-making through research and analysis. The course uses the foundations of political science and economics to develop a comprehensive understanding of how governments seek to influence economic processes, and how markets influence politics, policies, and political outcomes. All courses and modules we offer focus on providing skills relevant for the labour market. They are attractive to anyone seeking the highest possible training, knowledge and understanding in politics, combined with learning skills that extend beyond the confines of the undergraduate experience. You’ll apply to organisations to secure a work placement but we will help you with this process, prepare you for your work placement and support you whilst you’re there. Throughout the year, you complete assignments to demonstrate the academic benefits of your placement.Through our Q-Step Affiliate Status, we offer you the opportunity to develop your quantitative skills by taking a specialised degree pathway or receiving a student bursary to go on a quantitative work placement.
