Course summary
Prepare to lead, inspire, and make a difference in global affairs with our Politics and International Relations BA. This combination deepens your understanding of power, diplomacy, and global systems, equipping you with critical thinking and real-world insights to thrive in today’s interconnected world. Join your passion for how states, cultures, and societies interact with political theory and practice to prepare for a dynamic future. This course empowers you to engage with global issues, develop language proficiency, and build critical skills, shaping you into a confident leader ready to thrive in diplomacy, policy, and beyond. This degree shapes your future by building skills that employers demand-critical thinking, problem-solving, and global awareness. Our Politics and International Relations BA offers a flexible, globally-minded curriculum that combines political theory with real-world practice. You’ll explore how states, cultures, and societies interact internationally while developing key skills for the modern workforce, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and creativity. With exciting opportunities like participating in Model NATO events in Washington DC, London, and Lisbon, you’ll gain hands-on experience in diplomacy, decision-making, and crisis management. Supported by a world-renowned department, you’ll graduate ready to take on diverse roles and enter the job market with confidence. Each module is assessed independently, and all modules contain some components of continuous assessment (that means assessment taking place during the teaching terms). Some modules are assessed entirely through coursework, without an end-of-year examination. At the beginning of each module, you'll be given information on how and when you'll be assessed for that module. You'll receive feedback on each assessment within three weeks, so that you can learn from and build on what you have done, including written feedback on your assessments, class feedback, and questions sessions and discussions with your tutor. When exams are included in a module, you’ll have access to marking criteria, and mock exam and marking sessions allow you to get a sense of what to aim for.
