Product Design and Technology with a Foundation Year is primarily intended for individuals who have not studied the prerequisite subjects required for direct first-year entry, have not met standard entrance requirements due to adverse circumstances or prior sporting commitments, or are mature students returning to education or care leavers.Loughborough University’s Foundation Studies programme is designed to support a diverse range of students in achieving their higher education goals. Its streamed structure allows progression onto a variety of degree programmes within a chosen stream, offering additional time for students to explore and select the most suitable course.This foundation programme is particularly well suited to:Students who have not studied the necessary prerequisite subjects for their preferred courseStudents whose personal circumstances (e.g. illness or caring responsibilities) affected their academic performanceMature students or care leavers returning to educationElite-level athletes who face the challenge of combining academic study with high-level sport.Students enrolled in the programme are full members of the University community, with full access to the Students’ Union, clubs, societies, sports facilities, support services, and the outstanding student experience for which Loughborough is renowned.
