Course summary
**This course is primarily designed for face to face learning with you attending your lessons for the specified hours within the validation document. However, there may be periods of study where the government advises TEC Partnership that it is not safe to open campuses or there is limited access due to social distancing measures. If the Campus is closed TEC Partnership will continue to deliver your sessions online and offer you the necessary support and resources remotely. If there is limited access due to social distancing measures a blended model will be adopted with some lessons happening in small groups and others happening using online sessions and support.**Health and Social care is currently undergoing significant changes in the way services are delivered and as a result of this, training of healthcare professional needs to be responsive to changes taking place. This programme of study aims to deliver high quality education to the local and wider workforce for the future local healthcare sector. The content of the programme reflects the need for professionals to develop a person centred ethos of care to a wide range of adults with differing age and care needs. This will be provided within both placements and simulated classroom settings which will enable students to develop the skills and knowledge required to deliver quality healthcare provision. The academic element of the programme will provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable theoretical knowledge and skills which they will apply to the practice setting. The general aims of the programme are to:• Provide a programme of study for those who wish to work in the healthcare sector or for those who are currently working in a Healthcare setting who wish to progress beyond the role of Healthcare Assistant.• Equip students with the theoretical knowledge, professional conduct competencies and practice skills necessary to work with service users in a healthcare setting.• Develop reflective practitioners who are ‘fit for practice’ to safeguard the health and well-being of the public.Distinctive Features:The distinctive feature of this Foundation Degree programme is directly relevant to Healthcare practice and will enable students to develop their evidenced based practice.Based at the University Centre Grimsby this programme provides an enriching experience where tutors are committed to encourage students to become independent and autonomous learners and develop their own sense of professional identity within an occupational discipline. Small class sizes of no more than 25 students enable learners to feel engaged and build confidence in their own abilities to create supportive relationships within their working groups. The University Centre Grimsby boasts a well-equipped clinical skills room which includes simulation manikins. This environment facilitates students to develop their skills in a controlled simulated practice area which they can then transfer into the work place setting. The learning, teaching and assessment strategies selected are designed to enable the development of reflective practice, core clinical skills and an evidence-based approach to healthcare practice.Service user involvement will become an integrated mechanism to design, monitor and review the programme to provide quality assurance from a patient care perspective.Practice Based LearningPractice based learning is an integrated element within the programme and the key features include:• Block placements between 2 - 3 weeks in length.• Based in a selection of healthcare settings• Placement will be provided for you by Grimsby Institute• Total hours to complete will be 450 • This will equate to 225 hours each year • There will be a competency document to be completed
