Course Overview

This MSc in Project Management aims to provide graduates with a broad range of specialist and advanced tool-sets of both technical and interpersonal skills that will equip them to develop successful careers in the demanding and rapidly expanding field of project management.

Project Management is a life skill and applies to every sector from Engineering, Construction, Built Environment, Oil and Gas, Energy/Renewable/Clean Energy, Utilities, Manufacturing and Production, Banking, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Information Systems, Health, Social Care, Public Services, Government, Charity (Non-Governmental Organisations), Third Sectors, Retail, Media and Creative Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), Legal, Capacity development, Local Content and many other Professional Services. This course will cater the needs for most sectors and industries by embedding a range of Project Management methodologies and methods such as Linear (Traditional/Waterfall), Agile, Scrum, Kanban, PRINCE2 and Project Management for Sustainable Development.

The MSc Project Management is assessed using written courseworks and presentations. This programme's portfolio of assessment includes individual coursework e.g., client-based reports and reflective logs, production of Project Charter, team presentations, group practical formative assessments and debates. Extensive project management resources are available in the library and via the electronic catalogue/databases as well as guided by individual tutors and made available through Moodle (e.g., Essential and Supplementary Readings), the university's virtual learning environment. There are plenty of resources in Project Management, Program Management and Portfolio Management. Students can exit at Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma levels.
