The programme is ideal for those who do not meet the entry requirements for direct entry onto an honours degree. Following successful completion (including any additional progression requirements) of the Foundation Year you can progress on to the first year of Psychology and Education. **Start Dates**We offer a September and January entry point onto this course. (Applicant information for January 2022 entry can be found on the 2021/2022 pages.) The closing date for applications to the September 2022 entry point is the 15th January (unless otherwise stipulated) and the closing date for applications for the January 2023 entry point is the 20th December 2022. Please note that the January start point runs in a compressed time-frame (January to July) but without loss of teaching weeks or acceleration of teaching and content delivery. Please ensure that you are viewing the correct UCAS page for the entry point you are interested in. Telephone: +44 (0)1782 734010 Email: admissions@keele.ac.uk.**Psychology and Education BSc (Hons)**The study of psychology, which offers an evidence-based approach to understanding why humans feel, think and act the way they do, as well as how and why change occurs through the early years has strong links with the study of Education, which examines changing ideas about childhood, learning, schooling and education, and factors such as poverty, social policies and digital technologies which impact on these. This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).Studying Single Honours Psychology and Education is perfect if you are interested in the social and cognitive aspects of learning and studying.While the Psychology modules focus on cognitive, developmental and social psychology, Education modules complement this by emphasising their policy or school-based applications. You will be able to study both quantitative and qualitative research techniques. Together these subjects provide a great opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of psychology in action, in a vitally important aspect of life and society.On this course you will study a range of educational topics which may include the nature of learning, childhood and educational inclusion, as well as the history of education. You will also explore a range of psychology topics concerned with the systematic investigation of mind and behaviour. Many areas in psychology are relevant to education including developmental psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology and applied psychology.
