Course summary
About the course
Why study Psychology?
What makes people behave in certain ways? What are the mental and physical processes that underlie our actions? How do we perceive and understand things? What role does the unconscious mind play in our day-to-day lives? This course provides valuable insight into the nature of human behaviour, and will help you gain the skills that can be applied to a large number of situations, careers and further study.
Perception, cognition, emotions, motivation, personality, interpersonal relationships, this course gives you the flexibility to explore a wide range of topics to do with mental processes and social behaviours. You’ll look at current and sometimes controversial issues by examining case studies.
How will you learn?
- Taking a hands-on approach you'll be encouraged to think and apply your knowledge, looking at how psychological theories actually apply in the real world.
- We’ll help you broaden your skills and experiences to make you attractive to potential employers in your chosen career.
- You’ll have the opportunity to build your communication skills, assertiveness, ability to work in teams and presentation techniques, all of which are useful in many careers and professions.
- You’ll be able to take advantage of excellent facilities to enhance your studies, including our EEG system which monitors brain activity, our eye tracker, biopsychological testing systems and a specialist polygraph (lie-detector machine).
- This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), so you’ll be able to apply for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership if you graduate with a Lower Second Class Honours or higher.
