Course summary

Our BSc Psychology trains students in the theories and methods of contemporary psychological science and is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) (https://www.bps.org.uk/).In this BSc you will learn the theories of social, cognitive, developmental, biological and individual differences psychology, as well as your choice of a range of more specialised psychology topic areas. At the same time, you will develop the skills to understand and apply the research on which these theories are based. You will also learn how to design research studies and analyse data to provide valid answers to meaningful psychological research questions.In your final year project, you will combine these skills and knowledge to develop, carry out and report a substantial piece of original, empirical psychological research.Teaching is undertaken by internationally renowned academics who employ a variety of teaching and assessment methods (for example: lectures, seminars, tutorials, laboratories, group work, supervision, essays, reports, in-class presentations, examinations). These methods will help you to develop transferable skills, such as teamwork, critical thinking, psychological and scientific literacy, research skills, and oral and written communication skills (including the skills involved in presenting to an audience), which are valued by employers across a wide range of industries. They will also help prepare you for postgraduate study in psychology and beyond.
