Course summary

This programme offers the first part of a two-way conversion route-way to psychology for applicants who have not completed a BPS accredited undergraduate degree in a psychology discipline. The Graduate Certificate, plus the Child Development MSc, or Psychology of Education MSc at the IOE, is the dual-package conversion that enables students to apply for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS). Each module has 10 evening interactive lecture/seminar sessions, taught over two semesters from September to May. Exams will be scheduled in the day.;

Graduates of this programme generally pursue careers in the fields of educational psychological or clinical psychology by applying for doctoral training.

Employability

On completion of this programme students will have gained: a broad knowledge of basic, key issues in psychology the ability to produce critical and informed appraisal about core topics in psychology, as specified by the British Psychological Society syllabus; the ability to describe and evaluate psychological research in terms of theoretical and empirical contributions to the field; an understanding of basic concepts in research methods and statistics; the ability to construct a coherent argument supported by research in psychology
