Course summary

Psychology is the study of people – what they do, think, perceive and feel. It helps us to answer many important questions about society by applying scientific principles to human behaviour. As a student on the Psychology with a Placement Year programme, you spend a year working with practising Psychologists.Psychology with a Placement Year is a four-year programme. It is the same as the three-year programme except that in the third year you do project work with professional applied psychologists in organisations such as the NHS, the Prison Service or a research establishment. Placements are subject to availability, and you have to meet the required academic standards in your first and second years in order to participate. You complete your degree studies in the fourth year.Kent is a leading centre for social psychology – the study of human behaviour in a social environment – and we also have strengths in cognitive, forensic, developmental and business psychology.
