Focusing on current research and practice, this degree covers psychological theories and processes within the criminal justice system. Covering a vast range of topics, this versatile course teaches the concepts and principles of psychology by exploring key theories and applying them to criminal investigation settings.This course aims to educate individuals with a high level of understanding and insight into empirical and theoretical issues within the industry. Graduates from this course will be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of Psychology as an empirical science; develop a well-founded knowledge and critical understanding of the mind and behaviour through learning about all areas of Psychology; acquire a range of research skills and methods to investigate human behaviour and cognitive processes within the criminal justice system, culminating in an ability to conduct research independently; apply their knowledge effectively in a variety of contexts, particularly in forensic investigation settings. Students on this course can benefit from opting to take a 30-week placement in industry after your second year, extending your course by a year, although this is not mandatory.
