Do you get motivated by the way people 'tick?' Do you notice difference? What is normal behaviour? If you think about these questions a lot you may be interested in studying Psychology. Psychology is the science of mental process and behaviour. It is used in many contexts such as health, sports, social behaviour and how we process and act on information. You can study it with the French Language to give you a unique range of learning and opportunities and careers. We have internationally recognised researchers in social cognition, neuroscience, lifespan development, perception, language and cognition and occupational/industrial psychology to help you study and succeed.We provide a range of specialised laboratories including those for brain imaging analysis, eye movement recording, movement analysis and visual neuroscience. Join a school, rich with heritage that was founded over 100 years ago. We maintain a strong commitment to providing a supportive and stimulating environment for undergraduate studies in Psychology. As an integral part of your 4-year programme, you will spend half of year three developing your language skills as a teaching assistant or visiting student at locations including Lyon, Rennes, Grenoble, Réunion, Brussels, Geneva, Lausanne, the IFP (Institute of French Petroleum) School in Paris and the Club des Langues in Anglet.French has an international reputation for research, covering not just France, but Francophone Africa and Caribbean and the wide range of our research interests is reflected in the Honours options courses we offer. We are a medium-sized, friendly department and the student-run French Society organises a range of social events.


The most recent national assessment of university research placed Aberdeen as the third best in the UK for psychology.French Studies received the highest possible rating of 'Excellent' in the last national Teaching Quality Assessment.

For First Year Entry a minimum of 3 A Levels at BBB or 4 AS at AABB.For Second Year Entry a minimum of an A in the subject selected for Single Honours plus BB, or AB in the subjects selected for Joint Honours plus a further B.GCSE in English or English Language is also required.
