This certificate provides you with critical understanding of public health, health promotion and health security. You’ll study how social determinants of health and illness create inequalities and inequities across populations. This will lead to the consideration of evidenced-based remedies and interventions aimed at individual and communal wellbeing. Successful completion provides the underpinning knowledge to inform public health practice in line with United Kingdom Public Health Register (UKPHR) standards. However, we do not offer a public health practice placement as part of this qualification, so if you intend to register with UKPHR, you must demonstrate their standards in practice.
