You will learn how to solve problems and develop theories within mathematics, whilst acquiring a firm understanding of the techniques of collection, classification, organisation, analysis and interpretation of data. Statistics uses mathematical analysis, experiments and quantified models to evaluate hypotheses or analyse real-world problems. Suitably qualified statisticians are needed to process the enormous quantities of data generated by modern society, evaluate patterns within the data, and use those to inform decision making and strategy planning.Graduates of Pure Mathematics and Statistics are in significant demand across many industries for their problem-solving abilities, clear analytical thought processes and capacity for logical argument.
