Planning and development are at the heart of this course, preparing you for a lucrative career in this rewarding sector.** A gateway to professional status, BSc Real Estate Surveying (Planning and Development) is accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), so you’ll be educated to the highest industry standards. 75% of academics teaching on the course are members of RICS, with 50% still in practice, so you’ll be taught by leaders in the profession. With a variety of career roles in the property surveying sector, our course blends academic theory and practical application to provide students with a forward-thinking perspective once they graduate. You will study the law and regulation, valuation principles and environmental services before comprehending the importance of environmental impact assessments, the policies influencing development proposals and the aims of national planning laws. Our Peel Park campus is a short distance from Manchester city centre – one of the largest property and construction sectors outside of London – and we work closely with industry to ensure you’re equipped with the professional, technical and collaborative skills required to establish and develop a career in this industry.**Industrial Placement Option**If you are studying full-time, you'll have the option to take an industrial placement year between years two and three. Although you will be responsible for securing your own placement, we will assign you a placement tutor to monitor your progress and assess your final placement report.
