Course summary

**Real estate surveyors analyse and measure the value of the houses we live in and the buildings we work in whilst pioneering environmentally friendly building methods and developing smart cities. Property finance and valuation are at the heart of this course, preparing you for an exciting career in this evolving sector.** A gateway to professional status, BSc Real Estate Surveying (Valuation and Finance) is accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), so you’ll be educated to the highest industry standards. 75% of academics teaching on the course are members of RICS, with 50% still in practice, so you’ll be taught by leaders in the profession. Valuation surveyors value everything from personal possessions to skyscrapers, and our course merges academic knowledge and practical application to provide you with a strong skillset once you enter the professional sector. You will study the law and regulation, valuation principles and environmental services before acquiring an understanding of investment management, complex valuations and the various types of tax that affect property. Our Peel Park campus is a short distance from Manchester city centre – one of the largest property and construction sectors outside of London – and we work closely with industry to ensure you’re equipped with the professional, technical and collaborative skills required to establish and develop a career in this industry.**Industrial Placement Option**If you are studying full-time, you'll have the option to take an industrial placement year between years two and three. Although you will be responsible for securing your own placement, we will assign you a placement tutor to monitor your progress and assess your final placement report.
