Course summary

Whether you’re a new graduate or an industry professional wanting to broaden and deepen your knowledge in a wide range of areas, our MSc Resource, Energy and Environmental Management can boost your career prospects.

The environment is becoming a global issue and international development is linked to the economics of natural resources including energy demand. Resource management has become critical to the operation of both large and small organisations.

The public and private sectors require staff with detailed environmental knowledge at regional, national and international level. Businesses are increasingly looking outside Europe to Asia and the Americas to inform their best practices and maintain market share.

The course is designed as a direct response to growing industry demand and a shortage of skilled workers with this crucial knowledge across a range of disciplines and professions.

Why study with us

  • The course will enable you to progress towards professional recognition and qualifications with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM).
  • You’ll be exposed to a range of environmental technologies through site visits and will be able to experience how resource and energy plays a significant role in ensuring operation of businesses and advanced technology.
  • The course team are all members of professional institutions (IEMA, CIWM, MIMMM) and will support you to become a graduate member of these bodies.

Future careers

On completion of the course you will have the skills suitable for a diverse range of careers throughout the industrial, commercial and public sectors.

In addition to technical specialisation, the MSc course will prepare you for professional careers requiring high levels of judgement, team-working, leadership, initiative, delegation and decision-making responsibilities.

You will also be eligible to apply for progression to PhD studies within the University.
