The innovative content of this course is designed to meet your needs - and those of prospective employers with 100% of our graduates going into relevant employment.
Offering a well-rounded business education, it also develops practical skills that can be applied in a range of environments.
Core studies are complemented by specialist elective modules that let you tailor your studies towards your own specific interests. Simulations and real-life work placements give you the added benefit of relevant industry experience to build your practical skills and CV.
Throughout the course you'll make useful industry contacts, learn from regular guest speakers and undertake practical field trips. Our teaching, research and consultancy staff offer constant support and are always there to advise you if you need them.
What you will learn
The BA (Hons) Rural Business Management degree is designed specifically to develop well-rounded, entrepreneurial and sustainability-focussed graduates on successful completion of all aspects of the curriculum. Graduates will practise ethical and responsible global citizenship.
The programme delivers a thorough grounding in core business disciplines, with a specific focus on the realities, challenges, and future of the rural sector.
The BA(Hons) programme builds on the skills and competences embedded in HND study, and develops a deeper, more analytical and applied knowledge in such subjects as business law, management and finance.
A range of modules come together to give you the main skills in developing a business, managing the financial side of things, evaluating the impact of economic events. Students will have an option, should they desire it, to achieve an accredited degree by the TMI or RICS by following set Tourism or Land Management pathways respectively.
Your studies culminate in the fourth year dissertation which brings together all these skills to produce an independent piece of research in an area of your choice.
