Course summary

Our MSc Safeguarding in an International Context course explores the challenges of working across international borders to protect vulnerable children and adults.

This programme is only available as an online distance learning course, which provides high quality learning and teaching combined with flexible study.

Issues such as child abuse, cybercrime, human trafficking, modern slavery and smuggling are high on the global agenda. Protecting vulnerable children and adults from exploitation often involves working collaboratively across international borders with multiple agencies – from the police to the judiciary, customs and excise, and internet service providers.

The aim of this course is to help you become a safeguarding specialist who is socio-politically aware, adaptable and responsive in recognising international safeguarding issues. It’s an ideal professional development opportunity for any who’s involved in the protection of people in a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency working environment.

Why study with us

  • This course is delivered entirely through distance learning, so it’s accessible worldwide and you can study from home.
  • We offer a wide range of optional modules, so you can follow a path which is relevant to your area of employment or of personal interest to you.

Future careers

After completing this course you’ll have developed the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a truly multi-agency, multi-disciplinary environment, working effectively across international borders.

This will open doors to a range of UK-based and worldwide careers in organisations involved in identifying criminal activity, tracking down offenders and protecting vulnerable children and adults.
