Course summary

INTRODUCTION

The Salford MBA (Master of Business Administration) is our flagship programme that concentrates on developing the wide ranging leadership and business management skills that you need to thrive at a senior level, whatever sector you work in.

Studying on the Salford MBA programme means you are part of a small student cohort who work together in a supportive and collaborative environment where academics and students share their learning and build their knowledge.

The degree apprenticeship route will allow you to work and study for your degree at the same time meaning you will have a minimum of three years work experience upon graduation. Your employer and/or the government will pay your tuition fees for your apprenticeship programme and you will be earning a salary at the same time.

You will:

  • Develop the management skills required for success at a senior level
  • Benefit from close links with industry throughout
  • Small cohort sizes provide a supportive and collaborative learning environment

ALL ABOUT THE COURSE

There are two distinct components to the degree apprenticeship – the academic degree programme and the work-based assessment. The University – as lead provider – is responsible for delivering the degree programme. The employer is responsible for delivering the work-based assessment components. The university and employer work closely with each other to:

  • (1) Assure that knowledge you gain on the degree is successfully applied in the workplace.
  • (2) To ensure that the standards and practices required to meet the professional competencies contained in the apprenticeship standard are adequately evidenced by you.

ASSESSMENT

The assessment for the modules involves both formative and summative elements. Normally, a module consists of two pieces of summative assessment. Formative assessments, including class discussions, presentation, report writing, with feedback will be provided which will enable you to develop their knowledge and understanding of materials covered in each module.

CAREER LINKS

In 2016, the University introduced its Industry Collaboration Zone programme to capture, share and expand existing best practice. Industry Collaboration unites colleagues, students, industry and communities through shared knowledge, learning and innovation. By pioneering exceptional industry partnerships, we lead the way in real world experiences, preparing students – at all levels - for life.

Industry Collaboration offers a real-world approach to learning with a flexible, industry-informed and research-based curriculum co-created by the University and industry. Learning is authentic, active and collaborative; that is, it involves taking risks, learning from both success and failure. Our students are prepared for the real world by explicitly developing practice and self-awareness, communication skills, team-working abilities, and critical thinking skills.
