Scandinavian Studies and Spanish MA (Hons)

Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world, while the languages and cultures of the Scandinavian countries have long had a considerable impact beyond the Nordic region. This programme enables you to study Spanish and one (or more) of either Swedish, Danish or Norwegian in the context of the histories and literatures of the countries in which they're spoken. Beyond Europe, this is your gateway to a great many cultures and societies in Latin America. A highlight of this programme is the year abroad. You will spend Year 3 studying, teaching or working in two countries: one in Scandinavia; and one in which Spanish is spoken. Another attractive characteristic of this programme is its flexibility. This means that in Years 1 and 2, you will choose option courses drawn from a broad list of disciplines in addition to your core subjects.
