Course summary
The Certificate in Higher Education Skills for the Workplace programme in leadership and management is aimed at mature students (aged at least 21 years old) with work experience past or present would like to back up those experiences with both an academic university qualification and an internationally recognised leadership and management qualification.
Although categorised as a full-time undergraduate programme provided by the Carmarthen campus, this one-year long programme is provided at seven different centres located throughout south and west Wales. Students attend on a midweek evening three times a month and on one weekend day a month.
You will learn through participating in regular class-based sessions in a small group setting. We use a discussion-based approach to your learning, where your experiences are discussed in the context of the course. We will also support you through Skype and WhatsApp - and you will find that you will support one another.

Career Opportunities
This programme is specifically focused on generic leadership and management skills and knowledge which are applicable to employment in a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, retail, voluntary, MOD/Defence sector, Public Sector, Health Care etc.
The course ensures that students are able to to use workplace experiences to inform their studies throughout each module and in addition; to apply their new knowledge and skills to their own workplace, thus enhancing their own personal employability.
Another useful aspect of the course is that all students are taught how to create a professional online presence. This demonstrates their understanding and proficiency in digital skills, plus self-promotion and marketing. It gives them the skills for use at interview and to secure career progression.
The course is mapped against ILM standards, and successful students are awarded the Internationally recognised ILM Certificate level 4 in Leadership and Management. In addition, the Certificate in Higher Education Skills for the Workplace is conferred on graduates by the university.
