Course summary

**Why study this course?**This four-year course includes a foundation year to prepare you for degree-level study in the social sciences or humanities. This is a great route into an undergraduate degree if you don’t have traditional qualifications or can't meet the entry requirements to study a traditional three-year degree. It is also a way to explore a number of different subjects if you're not sure exactly what you would like to study at university. At the end of your foundation course you’ll be in a better position to decide which area you’d like to specialise in, be that in health and social care, social work, education, criminology, media, journalism or community development. Providing you attain the necessary entry requirements at the end of this foundation year, you will progress on to Year 1 of one of our social sciences or humanities related degrees.**More about this course**The foundation year of this course, Year 0, is your chance to encounter a range of topics relating to the social sciences and humanities. The foundation year cohort will be made up of students from other disciplines, allowing you to work closely with people with varied but related academic interests. Core modules for this year include Culture, Family and Power, Critical Thinking and Reflecting on Self and Society. This introductory year is also a brilliant opportunity to improve your academic and study skills, which will boost your confidence, unlock your potential for further study and help you to excel in university life. You’ll find exceptional support from our careers and academic teams offering academic mentoring, tutoring and skills-based workshops.Once you have passed the foundation year and attained the grades you require to continue, you’ll go on to choose a more specialised route and study one of our many undergraduate degrees in a related field. You will graduate with the title of the equivalent three-year degree. The subsequent undergraduate courses available on this pathway may also include their own opportunities for work-related learning, study abroad options and professional accreditation. The courses you could go on to study following the initial year of our Social Sciences and Humanities (including foundation year) BA make use of London Met’s many facilities, from a journalism newsroom to a state-of-the-art interpreting suite. No matter what degree you choose, you’ll have access to our range of study areas, library facilities and computer rooms.**What our students say**"The teaching is wonderful!
