You will gain an understanding of contemporary social issues and build research skills to evaluate theories and concepts.
Our programme introduces you to core theories, case studies, and methodological approaches, equipping you with the foundational knowledge to critically engage with social issues. This is further enhanced by focusing on advanced research methods, including digital data analysis and policy evaluation, while also expanding your understanding of social change in a global context. The final year challenges you to apply your learning to real-world contexts, working on independent and collaborative projects that reflect the applied nature of social science in professional and policy settings.
Throughout the degree, you will have opportunities to connect with practitioners working in social research, policymaking, advocacy, and the public sector, ensuring that your learning is directly relevant to contemporary social issues. You will become equipped with critical thinking, research, and communication skills necessary for careers across policy analysis, social research, public administration, criminal justice, and beyond.
