Course summary
Sociology and Politics offers an overview of the key issues, debates and areas of sociology and political science.
You will explore the different social norms, interactions, conflicts and networks that constitute everyday life.
The two disciplines are bound together. Developing your understanding of both fields enables you to understand and address fundamental questions about social life.
How will I learn?
We use a combination of:

- presentations
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed primarily through coursework, including:
- essays
- short assignments of various kinds
- take-home papers
In Year 4, you will complete an individual research project.
Career opportunities
Sociology and politics graduates go on to a wide variety of careers in areas such as:

- the voluntary sector
- local or central government
- the media or journalism
- social or market research
Many graduates go on to postgraduate study and an academic career or teaching.
