PROGRAMME OVERVIEW:

This course is designed to prepare students for careers in various areas of the audio and music industries, and to provide a route into the final year of an honours degree. Principal areas of focus are studio practice and advanced production techniques, the developing sound and music industries, along with professional practice and career development. Emerging technology is also examined with particular emphasis on the implications for the job market. The course is delivered by a team of experienced tutors, all of whom are current industry practitioners.

ASSESSMENT
Assessment of knowledge and understanding is continuous and covered by specific projects staged throughout the year. Evidence may be written, spoken, practical artifacts or a combination of all three. Students are given written and verbal feedback and action points with emphasis on formative assessment. Each module is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction using criteria shared with the students.

WHERE CAN IT LEAD?

The course aims to provide students with the necessary skills for employment in the audio industries, and for progression to further degree level study at other institutions. The qualification provides pathways into a variety of careers including sound engineering, record production, live sound, music management and sound to picture work.
