**Course snapshot**The freelance hair and make-up industry requires artists who can work within a range of media settings. UCB's Specialist Hair and Media Make-up course will train you to an advanced level in a wide variety of practical skills and give you the business knowledge you will need to promote yourself, build your freelancing business and manage your finances for a career in TV, film, photography and theatre. Our hired@UCB employability team will assist you in finding relevant work to support your future career plans.**What skills will I gain?**As well as exploring fashion and catwalk make-up, you will develop the necessary skills and knowledge for you to successfully set up and run your own freelance business.You will learn about industry innovations, develop a critical awareness of film genres and design concepts surrounding postiche from a particular area.You will be taught to develop your technical skills through demonstrations and lecturer support in the learning of specialist techniques.By working on your own research project, you will also be able to develop a particular industry specialism and showcase your technical skills.**What about the future?** By completing this course, you'll be ready to move into a range of areas within the specialist hair and media make-up sector, with past graduates having gone on to work in the fashion image industry, cosmetics and freelance hair and make-up artistry.You will also be able to work in:- Theatre- Film- Television- Photographic studios- Catwalk fashionAlternatively you could continue onto postgraduate study, such as our MA in Prosthetics for Film and TV at UCB.
