Course summary

The PGCert in Specialist Practice with Adults course offers a professional development opportunity for social care and social work practitioners.

Specialist practice with adults is facing a challenging period of transition in relation to implementing new laws (such as the Care Act 2014), managing the demands of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and reacting to organisational changes.

This award has been specially developed for social care and social work practitioners and allows you to build on your professional experience. You’ll be able to evidence your learning in each module in order to meet relevant CPD standards and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) requirements for renewing your registration.

You’ll enhance your knowledge and understanding of current issues and new evidence-based practice research. As you progress through the course, you’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to implement new approaches to safeguarding policy and practice involving adults who are at risk. And you’ll enhance your decision-making skills so that you’re adept at dealing with complex safeguarding situations.

Why study with us

  • A fantastic CPD opportunity for all practitioners in the field of social work or social care.
  • Develop your expertise and decision-making skills in complex safeguarding situations involving adults.

Future careers

This award is aimed at practitioners in employment who are looking to advance their career in social work and social care practice.
