The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science (Top-Up) is a one-year course designed for students who have completed a foundation degree in Sport & Exercise Science or a related field. This top-up program enables students to further their knowledge and specialize in areas that align with their career aspirations, such as rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, applied physiology, or coaching. The curriculum emphasizes advanced scientific principles and practical application, equipping graduates with the skills required to succeed in the evolving sports industry. Key to the program is the Sports Science Project, a capstone research experience allowing students to engage in an independent investigation within a chosen area of sports science. Additionally, key BASES-endorsed modules (Pending endorsement by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science), such as Applied Physiology in Sport, ensure students receive industry-recognized education, preparing them for a variety of professional roles in sports science and health. This program is ideal for those seeking a tailored educational experience with an emphasis on career readiness and specialization. The Work Ready Guarantee in this top-up program includes opportunities to develop specific, in-demand skills through professional short courses, which complement the core curriculum and bolster employability. These optional courses may include: ISAK course - body composition assessment courses offered by the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) Equipment – You will be able to use industry ready equipment for you Research project Advanced First Aid: Developing critical first aid skills for sports contexts (Please note that these courses may vary year to year and are subject to availability and demand). The course is designed to provide a solid understanding/critical thinking in essential principles of sport and exercise science, emphasizing rehabilitation practices. Each module builds upon the previous one, ensuring students gain a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical concepts and practical applications. Its is not just knowledge based, but allows for practical underpinnings of key knowledge in the sports/exercise careers. Graduates of the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science (Top-Up) are equipped to pursue a variety of specialized careers in the growing sports and health industries. Potential roles include Physiotherapist or Team Analyst.
