You'll have access to brand new, state-of-the-art sports and fitness facilities, while our industry links will give you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience as well as further accredited qualifications.**Who’s the course for?**Our course is suitable for anyone who has previously studied a relevant subject and is interested in a career working within sport and fitness, including professional, amateur and educational roles.**Why should I study the course?**- As a UCB sports student, you'll have exclusive use of our brand new sports facilities and equipment at our new campus building, Moss House (opening in 2019), while you'll also be able to use the state-of-the-art all-weather pitch at Avery Fields.- You will be offered guidance and opportunities to investigate various aspects of the sport and fitness industries, tailoring each area to suit your interests and career aims.- You will have work experience opportunities as well as being able to gain industry qualifications in areas such as personal training and coaching.- You will also have the chance to work on your own research project, giving you the opportunity to critically analyse a particular area of exercise, health and wellness that interests you and matches your career aims.**Great. Tell me some more**Our facilities feature an extensive range of equipment, including a fully-equipped gym and sports hall, fitness testing equipment, anatomical models and a human performance laboratory. Our new campus building, Moss House, will also feature a cutting-edge gym with the latest equipment and sports technology, as well as a 35-metre indoor running track to assess speed and performance.You will also have use of the state-of-the-art all-weather pitch at Avery Fields, which we share with leading Birmingham rugby club Bournville RFC. The purpose-built, 15-acre site has undergone a £3 million transformation, with the pitch situated alongside two new grass pitches and an impressive clubhouse including a function room, modern changing facilities and a physiotherapy suite.There is also the option to boost your CV with a 1st4Sport British Weight Lifting (BWL) Level 2 Award in Weight Lifting - ideal if you are looking to enter a career in personal training and general sport industries.**What skills will I gain?**You will gain a strong knowledge of performance-based training, including investigating elite level sport and how to design specific training programmes for advanced athletes.You will enhance your knowledge of sports psychology, designing interventions in areas such as concentration, motivation, aggression, anxiety and injury.Through our choice of optional modules, you can develop further knowledge and skills in specialist areas such as nutrition or sports marketing.The research project will hone your independent learning, problem-solving, analysis and data presentation skills as well as giving you in-depth knowledge of an industry subject that interests you.**What about the future?** Completing this course will prepare you for a career in the exercise, health and wellness sector.
