Course summary
The BA (Hons) Sport Development programme will provide an understanding of the knowledge and skills required to efficiently and successfully design and implement schemes and projects that support participation in sport across different groups of people. The focus of the programme is on understanding the relationship between developing opportunities to take part in sport and the critical role of coaches, leaders, activators and facilitators in this process. As such the programme considers the increasingly ‘indivisible’ relationship between sport development and the frontline workforce who deliver sport. Our degree programme will also consider the place of sport within the socio-economic geographies of local, regional, national and international communities, as well as developing your practical coaching and leadership skills. This degree is designed for those who have a keen interest in the culture, organisation, management and structure of sport in a modern society alongside an enthusiasm for coaching and leadership roles.
