Course summary

Overview

As sport participation rates are forecast to increase over the coming years, the study of sports science and human performance is becoming more and more important. Now is the perfect time to complete this foundation degree with us and develop the skills that will help you enjoy a rewarding career in the industry.

Focusing on the three main disciplines of sport science – Physiology, Biomechanics and Psychology – as identified by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES), you’ll look at the foundations of physiological and psychological training, exploring how sports performance is affected by these factors in both theoretical and practical tests.

Along with studying bioenergetics and the metabolism, you’ll also learn about the theory behind the biomechanics of strength and conditioning, and complete practical assignments to understand this subject in more detail. Each topic will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to succeed in a sports science related role. This course is validated by Manchester Metropolitan University.
The course is delivered over 2 years full time or 4 years part time.
