Course summary
Kingston University’s Sport Science programme offers a multidisciplinary approach enhancing knowledge and understanding of key scientific strands within sport and exercise science. This course is endorsed by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) and CIMSPA and you will gain a coaching assistant qualification alongside your studies in the first year.Across all years of study, a key focus of the programme is to develop lab skills in our bespoke sport and exercise science laboratories. You will have access to cutting edge technology and equipment to develop your understanding of physiological, biomechanical, psychological, and analytical approaches to Sport Science.We have designed "real-world" assessments to develop your key skills needed to succeed in applied sport and exercise environments in your future career.Our teaching is research-informed, ensuring topics and content are up-to-date and offers a contemporary understanding of Sport Science.

About this courseAre you passionate about sport and exercise? Would you enjoy a career where you worked to improve people’s sporting performance, fitness and health? There are increasing opportunities for sports scientists to work with athletes or conduct research.This hands-on course studies the science that underpins sports participation and how the body’s performance can be improved. Topics include anatomy, biomechanics, nutrition, physiology and psychology, with research-informed teaching linking current knowledge with industry practice. You’ll learn to monitor and assess health, fitness and performance. You’ll be able to tailor your studies to your own interests and career goals. There’s an option to study sports injuries and a project/dissertation on a selected topic.
