Course summary

This was the world’s first Sports Therapy degree course and was developed in partnership with the Society of Sports Therapists. You’ll learn to recognise, treat and rehabilitate athletes with injuries or dysfunction. Our University's fully equipped sports therapy clinic, which is open to members of the public for consultation and treatment, gives you hands-on experience to complement the scientific learning.This course, accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists (SST), will help you gain the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to go on to a career in sports therapy. You’ll learn to assess, treat and rehabilitate athletes with sports injuries or dysfunction, and will gain a broad scientific background.Your first year will provide a solid foundation of general subjects underpinning sports therapy and sport and exercise science, including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, research and the application of sports principles. In-depth studies of sports injuries, manual therapy techniques, applied sports biomechanics, and physiology are the focus of the second year of the programme. By the third year, you'll see that emphasis is placed on advanced and applied aspects of treating and managing sports injuries.
