Stem Cells and Regeneration (PGCert)

Programme overview

This innovative distance-learning programme is taught online and will provide you with knowledge and understanding in the highly topical and exciting field of stem cell biology and regeneration. You will be guided from the origins of this field through to its application (and potential applications) in treating human disease, covering the latest tools and technologies available for study in this area. Programme content is delivered by researchers active in the field, giving you the opportunity to engage with the latest breakthroughs.

This programme has two major aims.

• To develop the student's interest in stem cells and regenerative medicine.
• To equip the student with enhanced knowledge and understanding of stem cells and regenerative medicine.

The programme will provide a firm theoretical grounding in the basic scientific principles and clinical applications of stem cells and regenerative medicine with specific reference to ethical considerations that arise from these approaches. In addition, students will also be introduced to key practical techniques (by means of on-line videos) employed in this field.

Careers

On completion of this course students will progress to PGDip in Stem Cells and Regeneration.
