Course summary
Do you wish to travel to the vibrant city of London and study at a world-leading conservatoire? Trinity Laban’s Study Abroad Programme is for you.
Each year, we welcome visiting students from all over the world who wish to spend up to one year studying abroad. Our personalised approach to dance education will allow you to experience the unique and internationally recognised creative environment at Trinity Laban. You will explore the vibrant British dance scene as you specialise in professional training as an artist.
Key Features
The Study Abroad Programme offers you the opportunity to experience the British dance scene while living and studying within a world-leading organisation that specialises in dance education and professional training for performers.
You can spend one term or the full year with us, starting at the beginning of the academic programme in September. Your individual programme will be made up of the modules / components offered on the second year of Trinity Laban’s BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance course. This course is designed to develop students as confident, creative dance practitioners. The second year in particular is designed to encourage your individuality and risk taking, as well as to enhance professional skills. The course will also help you gain the contextual understanding and the critical, analytical, and reflective skills that will inform your artistic practice. You will hone your technical, creative, and performance skills to become a versatile dance artist with a multifaceted career.
Alongside daily classes in contemporary dance techniques and classical ballet, creative workshops will help you shape your artistic practice and develop your choreographic voice. You will have opportunities to create your own choreography and perform in your own and others’ dance works. Reflecting on a range of creative processes and investigating movement and dance in its historical, social, and cultural contexts will allow you to locate your own practice and to explore areas that interest you. The year ends with a major performance project which enables you to work with leading dance practitioners (members of the Trinity Laban teaching faculty as well as visiting dance artists) to restage historically significant repertoire. Credits are awarded in respect of each component or module successfully passed. The value of the credits awarded for each component / module are detailed below. You will also be issued with an academic transcript and a certificate of completion of the Study Abroad Programme.
