Supervision of Counselling & Psychotherapy Cert

This course provides training in the practical skills and theoretical awareness you need to become an effective supervisor of counsellors and psychotherapists.

This is a practical course with an emphasis on skills development, professional practice, self-awareness and personal growth.

The course will provide you with an overview of current models and key concepts in clinical supervision. As well as critically analysing and appraising current models of supervision, you’ll explore some of the legal and ethical issues involved in supervisory relationships.

You’ll develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to apply best practice and become a more effective and informed counselling supervisor.

Future careers

You can use this training to progress towards becoming an accredited supervisor of counselling and psychotherapy.

Learning and assessment

This course is delivered over six days. Each day will involve six hours of teaching, so you’ll have 36 hours of contact time in all.

As part of the course you will have the opportunity to hear about the experiences of service users, carers, patients and public members via our community engagement and service user support groups (Comensus).

You’ll take part in lectures, tutorials and small group discussions. The course involves experiential work, with dyadic/triadic group work and video recordings. You’ll also undertake independent study involving a range of literature and research.
