Course summary
If you’ve already completed the Postgraduate Certificate Systemic Thinking and Practice or you’ve passed an equivalent intermediate course accredited by the Association of Family Therapy, this course is the ideal next step for you.
Because it’s a part-time course studied over two years, you’ll have the flexibility to continue your professional development without taking a break from your career.
During your first year you’ll study the Postgraduate Diploma, which includes 38 weeks of weekly, live, supervised practice. During your second year you’ll focus on the MSc stage, which includes weekly live supervised practice as well as the development of a research project. The cost of live supervision is covered by your course fees.
How you will learn
You will be assessed on your knowledge of theory, your practice skills and your ability to be reflexive about your personal and professional development. This is assessed using a variety of methods from essay writing to presentations and the development of a professional portfolio.
Careers
You will be eligible to register as a systemic psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) after you've successfully completed this course, as long as you meet the UKCP’s requirements. This means that you will be able to work as a systemic psychotherapist or family therapist in the statutory and non-statutory health and social care sectors. You will also gain PGDip award in this course.
