Are you already working in teaching and learning in professional practice in the NHS and want to improve your technique and skills? This course is designed to build on and extend your current knowledge and expertise and give you opportunities to explore aspects of your own practice in depth.

Course Details

At the University of Bolton we have a ‘Teaching Intensive, Research Informed’ ethos. This means we aspire to offer postgraduate student-focused courses that inform best practice in teaching and learning, underpinned by the research knowledge of our high quality staff.

This course aims to stimulate your interest in the process of teaching and supporting learning in the context of your professional practice role, whilst improving your knowledge and skills. This will involve engagement with a broad range of educational theories and approaches to student learning. You’ll use reflection with and support from your peers, mentors and tutors, drawing from and focusing on work-based experiences to share and explore the most effective techniques and methodologies. There will also be the opportunity to network with a range of teaching professionals online.

Our welcoming team of experienced, professionally and academically qualified, staff will cover topics that include formative and summative assessment, the use of information technology, and inclusion. The course also aims to develop your professional practice to satisfy employer requirements in terms of practice placement obligations.

  • On successful completion of this course you will be awarded a certificate worth 20 credits at Level HE7 that can contribute towards the Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Teaching and Learning in Professional Practice or the Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Teaching and Learning in Higher and Professional Education offered by the University of Bolton.
