Course summary

TESOL with Applied Linguistics will enable you to develop the solid foundation of knowledge and the practical skills you need to teach English to non-native speakers of the language. This postgraduate degree course will equip you with a thorough grounding in teaching methodology, classroom management, an in-depth knowledge of lexis, grammar and phonology, and the way in which language is learned. It will also help you to develop the analytical and reflective skills you need to continue to develop as a professional.

English is the world’s foremost language, and literally millions are learning it. Teaching English is a truly rewarding and fulfilling career, and one which will enable you to travel widely and meet other cultures. There is an increasing demand for well-qualified TESOL professionals around the world.

Learning Environment and Assessment

The course aims to highlight the main principles and theories underpinning TESOL practice which students can link to their previous teaching experience. It is taught by people who are academic researchers, practitioners and teacher-trainers. We have a range of experience in a variety of teaching contexts around the world.

Opportunities

We currently have graduates working in ELT positions in a variety of countries, including the UK, Japan, Malaysia, China, Thailand and Saudi Arabia. We have a well-established network of alumni and can put students in contact with graduates around the world.
