Course summary
The programme has a longstanding industry reputation with nearly 30 years experience offering tourism-related programmes and industry placements.
Student’s learning will focus from the outset on developing their professional skills, management understanding and academic knowledge in order to prepare them for a successful career in the Tourism Industry. This will include studying in-depth topics relating to Guest Service Excellence, Marketing and Social Media, Ethics and Sustainability, Heritage and Attraction Management.
The students benefit from a close relationship with alumni, many of whom have highly successful careers in the industry & regularly return to network & share their experiences with current students. This is supported by close industry links including the opportunity to regularly undertake field study trips, behind the scenes industry visits and networking opportunities within the tourism industry in Wales and internationally.
During their studies, students all take part in integral paid placements within the tourism industry in Wales, the UK or overseas. This provides an important opportunity to apply theory to workplace issues and strategically discuss solutions for work-based problems in the lecture theatre, as well as professionally preparing students for their future careers.

This highly respected tourism programme provides students with professional industry skills and academic knowledge to help them secure a successful career within the Tourism Industry.
The programme has been developed through close consultation with tourism industry leaders, students and graduates in order to meet the needs of industry and the aspirations of students.
A strong focus on management and marketing is introduced from the start of the programme. Industry issues are critically considered to enable students to develop their learning with regard to social media, international travel operations, ethics, culture & sustainable tourism.
The cutting edge programme focuses on guest service excellence from the outset and students are encouraged to challenge industry conceptions and consider strategic management issues from both an academic and applied stance in preparation for a management career.

The programme focuses on industry opportunities, internships & graduate placement support empowers students to gear their studies to their own career ambitions and personal circumstances.
The constant behind the scenes visits and interaction with employers focus on guest service and professional employability skills providing students with the opportunity to realise their career potential through their studies.
On graduating students from this programme have been highly successful in securing a range of operational and management positions within the Tourism Industry in Wales or further afield.
