Course summary
One of the most flexible translation studies programmes in the UK, our degree brings together the expertise of research-active staff from the various language units within the School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures.
You will join what is arguably the most international research community within the School, using your research skills both to provide you with an intellectual and philosophical perspective on the activity of translation, and to enhance your translation research or practice.
This diversity of research aims to produce self-reflective and theoretically minded researchers or translators.
Training and support
We are a partner in the International Postgraduate Conference in Translation and Interpreting.
Held each year in Edinburgh, Manchester or Dublin, the conference gives you the opportunity to present your work and learn from other researchers in the field.
We offer excellent opportunities in research networking that will benefit a future academic career.
Alternatively, if your interest is in in-house or freelance translation, we can offer links with the translation market.
