Course Overview

This practice-based programme is in response to industry needs, and aims to develop students with the counselling skills and attributes to work effectively and ethically with adults, who wish to avail of professional counselling. The programme is accredited with the National Counselling Society (NCS). It is also intended that this programme will be awarded Approved Course status by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

Assessment Method

All modules include practical assignment. Assessment is via course work and viva in keeping with Ulster University regulations. A Portfolio in relation to Clinical Practice, including supervisor and agency reports, must also meet a required standard for successful completion of the course.

A level : E - A

Provide evidence of passes in five subjects, two of which must be at A level (grades A-E) and three at GCSE level (grades A-C/4-9). The Foundation Degree is the progression from the Certificate in Counselling but students must fulfil the entry criteria above, as the Level 5 Foundation Degree, is also a progression route to level 6 BSc (Hons) Professional Development in Counselling at Ulster University.
