Unscheduled Care Graduate Certificate

OVERVIEW

Our innovative Graduate Certificate Unscheduled Care is for those registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) respectively.

The GradCert is ideal for those who work in an unscheduled care environment such as out-of-hours services, remote and rural health care, practice nursing, police custody or the prison service. It will expand your knowledge, develop a greater understanding of unscheduled care and enhance care delivery.

Our programme is vocationally relevant and complements the strategic development of unscheduled care in line with the NHS National Out-of-Hours and Unscheduled Practice Agenda. The GradCert content includes theory and competency development in the areas of clinical assessment, common presentations of illness, and minor injuries.

The course requires that you have line management support and a clinical supervisor from your area of practice, to supervise and assess clinical competency, as the work-based learning and achievement of competency occurs within your own area of practice. Therefore, by undertaking this programme, you will continue to enhance and develop the educational and clinical competencies required to practice in this area.

Teaching & Assessment

The Graduate Certificate consists of 1 core module and 2 Option Modules; each credit rated 20 points at SCQF Level 9. Each module incorporates a variety of teaching methods.

All teaching and learning activities occur using our online learning platform, Moodle. To complement this, we use a range of digital and online learning tools to support knowledge acquisition.
