This innovative postgraduate programme offers students the opportunity to engage in key academic debates relating to supporting the education and well-being of learners in a variety of settings.
The flexibility of the programme allows learners to apply their studies to a range of potential contexts such as Early Years, primary and secondary education, post compulsory education or lifelong learning.
In this way, we allow our students the option to specialise their studies within an area relating to their own professional interest yet still retaining the flexibility needed to.
Course Overview
This programme aims to support those starting out as educational researchers as well as those who are seeking to develop their professional knowledge and skills.
The central position that education holds within the United Kingdom as well as globally means that more than ever we need professionals within the sector, able to get to the heart of educational policy and practice.
This programme is an academic study of education that seeks to challenge students to question and examine the principles of education through a combination of theory and reflection on the systems of education as they exist at present, and the principles that drive them.
It will allow students to focus in depth on aspects of education that are of interest to them and consider the complexity of education in an increasingly globalized world.
The central focus on well-being and professional development at the heart of the programme aims to facilitate your growth as a reflective and reflexive educational practitioner in terms of your own development as well as that of others.
Assessment
The course will be formally assessed through a variety of means in including portfolios, essays, reflective writing as well as presentations. At an informal level, we encourage discussion and reflection on own learning and experiences which allow students to practice and develop their skills in a variety of ways. There are no examinations linked to this programme.
Career Opportunities
Graduates from this programme will find employment opportunities in a wide variety of areas including educational management, training or other related fields including public and private sector institutions. There are opportunities following this programme for further studying including initial teacher training or potential progression to PhD level for those interested in a career in academia.
