Top Ten Films About University

Going to university is a lot like becoming a parent: an experience that cannot be fully prepared for, tempered with tears and stress, but that is overwhelmingly positive and a source of some of the best times of your life. Being the hotbed of emotion and experience that it is, it's perhaps unsurprising that university (or 'college', as our transatlantic cousins refer to it) provides the backdrop for a number of Hollywood blockbusters. From the sublime to the ridiculous, here are our Top Ten Films About University:

10. Starter for 10

Despite a slightly disappointing performance at the box-office, Starter for 10 was a hit with the critics. This comedy-drama was praised for its witty and charming account of the story of Brian Jackson, a lifelong fan of the quiz show University Challenge who wins a place on the University of Bristol's competing team. With a cast containing a who's who of British acting talent, including James McAvoy (pictured), Catherine Tate and a pre-Sherlock Benedict Cumberbatch, Starter for 10 was always going to feature in our Top 10 Films About University.
