De Montfort University

Why study here?

De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is a diverse and supportive learning community dedicated to helping students achieve the life, career and great experiences they want.

DMU is based in Leicester, named the 10th best city in the UK in which to live and work, ahead of London, Brighton and Midlands neighbours Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby (2018 Good Growth for Cities Index).

DMU is a TEF Gold-winning university – the highest teaching standard possible in UK higher education, and the first of its kind endorsed by the UK government. The award shows DMU offer great support with students’ degrees, with work experience, and with life outside the classroom. DMU offers an excellent environment with great facilities that enhance learning and employability – the campus was transformed to meet students’ needs.

DMU also offers great volunteering opportunities, such as #DMUlocal, that make a big contribution to people and help students gain new skills, confidence and contacts.

#DMUglobal is an international travel programme that offers all DMU students the opportunity to travel worldwide. The programme has taken more than 11,000 DMU students to more than 60 countries. It is heavily subsidised and destinations are linked to studies and career plans. New York has been a regular destination students have been to, but they have also visited places such as Brazil, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, India, The Netherlands, Singapore and the US.

Even after you graduate, the support and opportunities continue through #DMUforlife, keeping you informed about benefits you can access, including career support and further study.
