Programme Features

  • The Edinburgh MBA aims to develop student’s strategic leadership capability within an increasingly competitive and volatile business environment, with a focus on innovation to help challenge assumptions about business models and explore new business ideas.
  • Studying alongside colleagues from around 20 countries, participants will be supported by the expertise of Centres of Excellence in strategic leadership, finance, innovation, marketing and operations, along with the business insight of a range of practitioner experts.
  • A core programme will build knowledge and professional skills including public speaking, negotiation, facilitation, consulting, crisis-communication and media management. The programme includes four major projects where students can work with external organisations, applying their learning to real business problems; and a range of elective options to specialise in aspects of strategy, finance, innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Students have access to an extensive range of practitioner experts, with guest speakers sharing insights, experience, and expertise.
  • The University of Edinburgh offers a number of scholarships, starting from £5,000.

Course Duration

  • 12 months.
  • Students have the opportunity to study the full-time 12-month MBA with or without an international exchange for 2–3 months in one of the university's partner institutions.

The Edinburgh Executive MBA

Programme Features

  • The Edinburgh Executive MBA is a modular, part-time programme designed for business managers who wish to continue to work while studying for their MBA. This practical, applied programme aims to develop strategic leadership capability within an increasingly competitive and volatile business environment, with a focus on innovation to challenge assumptions about business models and explore new business ideas.
  • The part-time learning format is delivered through a combination of mostly Friday/Saturday courses, some week-long courses, and online support; the MBA provides the opportunity for networking with colleagues from a wide range of industry sectors and to build international networks with the wider MBA and university community.
  • Students will be supported by the expertise of Centres of Excellence in strategic leadership, finance, innovation, marketing and operations; they will engage in boardroom-style debates on current and critical issues with Company Directors to enhance their powers of argument and persuasion, and have access to an extensive range of practitioner experts.
  • A core programme will build knowledge and professional skills including public speaking, negotiation, facilitation, consulting, crisis-communication and media management. Skills and knowledge can then be applied either through project work based on the student’s own organisation or through consultancy projects with a company outside of their sector. Specialism is offered via a wide range of option courses covering aspects of strategy, finance, sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship.
