Hartpury University became an Associate Faculty of the University of the West of England (UWE) in 1997. The university is based in the Cotswold hills near Gloucester, and specialises in animal, equine, sport and land-based degrees.

  • Hartpury University was established in 1947 as an agricultural education centre.
  • Rapid expansion during the early 1990s saw the first higher education programme in Equine Studies introduced in 1992, followed by the first degree programme in Equine Science in 1994.
  • The University became an Associate Faculty of the University of the West of England (UWE) in 1997.
